Log workouts and weight via Twitter! Slowtwitch can also automatically post your workouts to your Twitter account!

Log workouts or weight via Twitter

How?

Simply send a twitter message, for example:

#run 45 min 10 km Nice morning run @twitchlog

or

#weight 160 lbs Hit my goal weight! @twitchlog

and we will parse your workout or weight and log it.

You get charts, calendar, summaries, reports etc etc. If you later want to edit or delete your workouts, set goals or add routes you can sign in using your Slowtwitch forum login.

Why?

This is a great way of logging workouts without having to log in to Slowtwitch, and Twitter has great mobile support and plenty of 3rd party applications.

Details...

To be able to log your workouts via Twitter, you first need to link your Twitter account with your Slowtwitch account. After signing in, you can link your accounts from your profile page.

After your workout is created on Slowtwitch, we will send an @reply to you with the url for the workout. Note that it may take a few minutes after you send your twitter message until your workout is created.

Workout logging message format

The format for logging workouts is:

SPORT DATE TIME DISTANCE HEARTRATE NOTE @twitchlog

where:

SPORT (required) is one of #run #bike #swim #walk #xcski #other
Other formats that work are #ran #running #biked #biking etc

DATE (optional) is either on the format yyyy-mm-dd (example: 2009-01-30) or mm/dd/yyyy (example: 01/30/2009). If no date is given, current date will be used.

TIME (optional) is either on the shorthand format hh:mm:ss (example: 00:30:00) or spelled out like 1 hour or 30 min or 2 hours 5 min 20 sec

DISTANCE (optional) is on the format distance+unit
Valid units are: km, kilometers, mi, miles, m, meters, yds, yards (example: 5.0km or 5200yds)

HEARTRATE (optional) is on the format heartrate+bpm
(example: 165bpm)

NOTE (optional) can be anything... (example: Short run around the block)

Note that all inputs are case insensitive (#Run == #run == #RUN), and number of spaces is not important (10km == 10 km)

Also note that the order of the different parts (time, distance etc) is not important, except that the tweet needs to start with a valid sport tag and contain a reference to @twitchlog.

Some examples

#Run 2009-01-30 00:45:00 10km 160bpm Tempo run @twitchlog Ok

#Bike 2 hours 35miles @twitchlog Ok

#Swim 01/30/2009 1hr 15min 4000m Morning swim @twitchlog Ok

#runn 1hr @twitchlog Error, sport misspelled (sport is required)

Swim 1hr 15min 4000m Morning swim @twitchlog Error, missing #

@twitchlog #biking 1hr Error, not starting with sport tag

Weight logging message format

The format for logging weight is:

#weight WEIGHT DATE NOTE @twitchlog

where:

WEIGHT (required) is on the format weight+unit
Valid units are: kg, kgs, kilo, kilos, kilogram, kilograms, lb, lbs, pound, pounds (example: 75kg or 170.5lbs)

DATE (optional) is either on the format yyyy-mm-dd (example: 2009-01-30) or mm/dd/yyyy (example: 01/30/2009). If no date is given, current date will be used.

NOTE (optional) can be anything... (example: Finally hit my goal weight!)

Note that all inputs are case insensitive (#Weight == #weight == #WEIGHT), and number of spaces is not important (75kg == 75 kg)

Also note that the order of the different parts (weight, note etc) is not important, except that the tweet needs to start with a #weight and contain a reference to @twitchlog.

Some examples

#Weight 75 kg @twitchlog Ok

#weight 175 pounds @twitchlog Ok

#weight 175 lbs Yes, finally! @twitchlog Ok

#weight Yes, finally at 175 lbs @twitchlog Ok

175 lbs @twitchlog Error, missing #weight

@twitchlog #weight 175lbs Error, not starting with #weight

#weight 175 @twitchlog Error, missing weight unit

Autopost your workouts to Twitter

We can autopost your workouts to your Twitter account. Once you have linked your Slowtwitch account to your Twitter account, you can opt in to autopost your logged workouts.

The resulting Twitter message will look something like this:

Biked 10 km, 30 minutes Really nice ride http://training.slowtwitch.com/workout/...
